Maggie May Mule
Johnny B’s birthday gift this year was tickets to see Rod Stewart—a night out we’d been looking forward to for weeks. It was his farewell tour and seeing him live was a bucket-list kind of night. That’s how we do birthdays—no presents, just memories.
Making this night memorable meant an appetizer spread, and one signature cocktail that had no business being this good on the first try.
This one came with a copper mug, vodka, ginger beer, and a squeeze of lime. Cold, bright, gone in a few sips, and practically it named itself: the Maggie May Mule.

Why You'll Love This
Three ingredients, one gorgeous drink — no bar cart required
Comes together in under a minute
Mocktail version included, so nobody's left out of the toast
Copper mug optional but highly recommended — it looks sophisticated and keeps everything colder longer
Ingredients
2 ounces vodka
½ ounce fresh lime juice
4–6 ounces ginger beer
Lime wedge and fresh mint, for garnish
How to Make It
Fill a copper mug or tall glass with ice.
Add the vodka and fresh lime juice.
Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
Garnish with a lime wedge and fresh mint
Pro Tips / Notes
Keep your vodka in the freezer — Some Guys Have All The Luck, and yours will be ice-cold and ready to pour.
No copper mug? A tall glass works just fine. The mug just makes you look like you know what you're doing.
Stir gently once the ginger beer goes in — aggressive stirring is how you end up with a flat mule and regrets.
Want the mocktail version? Skip the vodka and add extra ginger beer with a splash of sparkling water. I Wish I Knew What I Know Now — turns out, nobody wants a hangover.
What to Serve It With
Pairs naturally with a light appetizer spread — think marinated olives or shrimp sambuca. Tonight's the Night for cocktails and appetizers.
