Our Story
For the Birds Living grew out of the things I’ve always loved: cooking, baking, decorating, golf, and having friends over—preferably with something good to eat.
After a long corporate career, I came back to the things I had missed: creating, sharing recipes, planning parties, and exploring life with my husband, Johnny B.
(And yes — the name is a pun. A little nod to my mom, the Queen punster.)
Meet Karen
I'm Karen, the creator behind For the Birds Living.
I live full-time in Arizona, where the sunsets are worth stopping for, the patio doubles as a second living room, and a good day might include golf, lunch with friends, or cooking something worth sharing.
For the Birds Living is where I share what I actually make, use, wear, visit, and love—recipes with a story, patio parties, weekend getaways, golf-day favorites, and the things that have earned a place in our home.
A Few Things About Me
I believe the good plates are meant to be used—even on a Tuesday.
I live in Arizona full-time and never get tired of exploring Scottsdale, Prescott, Flagstaff, Sedona, Pinetop, Page, and all the places that make this state so interesting. If it’s cooler there in the summer, I give bonus points.
Johnny B is the other half of this adventure. He may not always understand why the linen napkins matter, but he is the first to pour the drinks and make sure everyone is having a good time.

Johnny B is my best friend, favorite golf partner, and the voice behind the golf side of For the Birds Living.
He shares the gear he actually uses, golf destinations he would return to, and a straightforward take on what makes a good day on the course. His perspective is practical, occasionally opinionated, and usually shaped by whatever happened on the last hole.
Together, we’ll bring you golf getaways from both sides: Johnny B covers the course, while I share where to stay, what to pack, where to eat, and what to do after the round.
Golf is hard. We still keep going back.
