The Final Weeks of Snowbird Season

You can tell snowbird season is winding down before anyone actually leaves.

Calendars fill with farewell dinners. Suitcases come down from the closet. Houses start getting buttoned up for summer. And suddenly everyone is asking the same question:

“When are you heading home?”

If you’re leaving Arizona for the summer, there’s plenty to get done — but there are also a few good weeks left before everybody scatters.

So make the dinner plans. Play another round of golf. Sit outside while you still can.

A Few Travel Comforts for the Journey Home

Whether you’re flying or driving, the trip home is better with a few things within reach.

• A lightweight wrap or shawl for chilly flights or long drives
• A soft travel pillow‍ ‍that actually supports your neck
• A compact tote to keep essentials within reach
• A refillable water bottle to stay hydrated along the way
• A laptop bag to keep everything organized and easy to find

Nothing groundbreaking. Just a few things that make a long travel day considerably less annoying.

Before You Lock the Door

Leaving Arizona for a few months takes a little more than packing the suitcase. A few quick checks now can save you a headache later.

  • Put a few interior lights on timers so the house doesn’t sit dark every night.

  • Place a smart water sensor near sinks or laundry areas for added peace of mind while you’re away

  • Cover patio furniture and anything else that’s going to spend the summer baking outside.

  • Set a smart thermostat‍ ‍and make sure you can monitor it from your phone.

Until Next Season

Enjoy those last dinners, get the house buttoned up, and have a safe trip home.

And really, leaving Arizona for the summer is pretty smart. By the time you come back, the worst of the heat is behind us and Arizona is heading into its best season.

Fall here is pretty darn close to paradise.

Not a bad welcome home.
